In a previous post I gave my opinion about bio-construction, saying that, for me, it should only be called so a building that was built using local materials.
So, this is just a short post showing what materials are available at Quemao Viejo, and asking you all for ideas to build something using only them.
Obviously, as there is soil, all king of buildings using earth as main material could be built. But, for me, a main factor is time. Of course I could built a castle with mud bricks (adobe), but how long would that take? I am very sorry, but I have no intention to spend my life making bricks ( not that I have anything against brick makers! God bless them!).
I have several ideas, although I would need some “non-local” materials. I am thinking about wire mess and scaffolding tubes to create the “frame” of a structure that could be later filled with a thin layer of mud and stones (wattle and daub alike).
Would that be bio-construction? I think it is. Because the feeling you would have inside such an structure, plastered with mud, would be really “bio”, and the steel frame ( scaffolding tube and mess wire) would be easily removed/reused. I will have a design ready soon.
In the meanwhile, imagine you are a kid and are given the following materials, and then asked to build something with it where you could live. Any idea? ( keep in mind, you are playing monopoly, and by no chance you want to stop at the bank’s street, so budget is an issue!):
