Puerto de Mazarrón is the nearest seaside to Quemao Viejo. It is about 70 kilometres away, just above an hour by car.
A long ago, it started as the seaside part of the town of Mazarrón (8 km inland), but in recent decades it has been growing, and now it is as big as the town it belongs to.
It has been historically a summer season destination for Spanish people, but the population of British and Germans has grown considerably.
In this post I will place some photos of the town centre, where one could enjoy a calm evening after a swim in one of the marvellous beaches in Bolnuevo and Azohia.
As starters for that peaceful evening, one could have a walk in the Puerto maritimo by the fishing boats and yachts, stopping for an iced coffee in one of the bars,
Later, a takeaway ice-cream and some walking under the palm trees in the paseo maritimo,
And when it starts getting dark,
A well-deserved beer!
